DESCRIPTION:Maida Chen\, MD\nMarch 7\, 2023\n10:00 am – 11:15am Pacific Standard Time via Zoom \nBARNARD CENTER FREE LECTURE SERIES\nUpdates on Sleep\nObjectives: \nAt the end of the lecture\, the learner should have an improved understanding of the following: \n\nBasics of sleep physiology\nApproach to and assessment of infant sleep difficulties\nUpdated evidence on safe sleep environments\nImpacts of infant sleep on health and development\n\nMaida Chen\, MD\, graduated with a degree in English literature from Northwestern University\, where she later attended medical school. She trained at Rush Children’s Hospital for general pediatrics and did her pediatric pulmonary fellowship at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles. She was part of the inaugural class of Sleep Medicine Board Certified physicians\, as sleep medicine was not a formal subspecialty until 2007.  She joined the faculty at the University of Washington and Seattle Children’s Hospital in 2005 and is currently a Professor of Pediatrics and Director of Sleep Medicine\, as well as an Adjunct Professor in the School of Dentistry. Outside of work\, she is a soccer/dance mom to her 3 kids and is addicted to closing the rings on her apple watch!

This training provides history and background around the need and development of a specialized diagnostic classification system for infants and young children as well as approaches in diagnosis from an IECMH perspective which is developmentally informed\, relationship based\, and culturally responsive. Participants will learn about the multi-axial approach to diagnosis and the contents of each axis including Axis I clinical disorders. \nThis 3-session format allows clinicians to gain an in-depth knowledge of the approach and content of DC:0-5 and to practice application of this new nosology with the support of peers and ZERO TO THREE Faculty. This application includes activities and case examples to support their use of the many tools included in DC:0-5. \nOnly ZERO TO THREE offers this official DC:0-5™ Training. DC:0-5 Training is facilitated by select Faculty who have the highest clinical\, diagnostic\, and training expertise.
